YIELD: 10 servings
TOTAL TIME: 60 minutes
FOR THE CAKE:
3 sticks butter
2 cups sugar
3 cups all purpose flour
6 tbsp cornstarch
2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1 cup whole milk
Edible glitter or sprinkles (optional)
FOR THE GLAZE:
5 tbsp whole milk
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 1/2 cup powdered sugar
A pinch of salt
Preheat oven to 350 F.
Grease a 12-cup bundt pan with some cooking oil and keep aside.
In a bowl add butter and sugar and beat them together using a hand blender until you achieve a fluffy consistency.
Now add eggs one at a time and beat well individually.
Add vanilla extract and mix well.
Now its important to mix the dry and wet ingredients separately as it prevents from over-mixing!
So in a separate bowl add half of the dry ingredients which include flour, cornstarch, baking powder and salt.
Add the other half to the wet ingredients and beat well.
Now add milk and mix well.
Then add the remaining dry ingredients and stir.
Pour the cake batter into the greased bundt pan and bake for about 50 mins.
Keep checking the cake every 20 mins in the oven.
To check if its properly baked, insert a tooth pick into the middle of the cake and check if it comes out clean.
Let it cool completely , then invert onto your serving tray
For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
Pour it over the cake.
Top it off with some cherries and sprinkles if you like! :)
