Healthy Steamed Chicken Dumplings

I love chinese food and these dumplings are the healthiest chinese you can have!

YIELD: 3-4 servings

TOTAL TIME: 20 mins

INGREDIENTS:

For the dough:

  • All purpose flour-1 cup

  • Oil - 2 tbsp

  • Salt - 1/3 tsp

For the filling:

  • Chicken (minced)- 200 gm

  • 1 tsp Soy Sauce

  • 1 tbsp Black pepper powder

  • 1/3 tsp Spring onion(chopped)

  • 1/4 cup Green chilli (chopped)

  • Garlic (chopped)- 4 cloves


PREPARATION:

  1. In a large bowl combine all the ingredients mentioned for the filling.

  2. In a separate mixing bowl, add the refined flour, salt, water and oil.

  3. Knead until the dough is not sticky and the surface is smooth.

  4. Set aside for about 20 minutes, covered with a wet cloth so that the dough doesn't dry out.

  5. Divide the dough into equal small portions. Shape them into balls and roll them out thinly, to a circular shape.

  6. Place a spoonful of the filling in the center, bring the edges together to cover the filling, twist carefully to seal the momos while you work on rolling up the edges.

  7.  Repeat the process till the dough and filling are used up.

  8. Meanwhile, in a steamer add some water and let it boil.

  9. Line the steamer with six cabbage leaves. In batches, arrange dumplings 1 in. apart over cabbage.

  10. Steam for about 15-20 minutes or till the dumplings are steamed well.

Serve with chilli sauce.
